About the position

The Team Member position at Tractor Supply Company is a vital role that focuses on delivering exceptional customer service while supporting various selling initiatives. This position requires individuals to interact with customers and team members effectively, ensuring that all tasks are performed with a commitment to quality and efficiency. Team Members are expected to maintain regular attendance and work scheduled shifts, which may include varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as dictated by business needs. In this role, Team Members will take the initiative to support selling initiatives by greeting customers, uncovering their needs, recommending products, and asking for the sale. The job involves a combination of duties that are essential to the daily operations of the store. Team Members will operate cash registers and computers, follow cash handling procedures, recover merchandise, participate in the freight process, complete merchandising tasks, assemble merchandise, perform janitorial duties, execute price changes, and assist customers with loading their purchases. Additionally, they will ensure the safety and well-being of birds, sanitize and maintain poultry holding tanks, and complete all necessary documentation associated with their job duties. Team Members may also be required to perform other duties as assigned, making flexibility and adaptability key traits for success in this position. The work environment is generally favorable, with moderate noise levels and adequate lighting and temperature. Team Members will be expected to promote a safe and productive work environment, adhering to company safety training and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Work scheduled shifts and have the ability to work varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as dictated by business needs.
• Greet customers and uncover their needs.
• Recommend products and ask for the sale.
• Operate cash register/computer following cash handling procedures.
• Recover merchandise and participate in mandatory freight process.
• Complete Plan-o-gram procedures (merchandising, sets, and resets).
• Assemble merchandise and perform janitorial duties.
• Execute price changes/markdowns.
• Operate Forklift and Cardboard Baler (if over the age of 18).
• Assist customers with loading purchases.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of birds and sanitize poultry holding tanks as required.
• Complete all documentation associated with job duties.

Requirements

• High School Diploma is preferred.
• No experience is required.
• Ability to read, write, and count accurately.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.

Nice-to-haves

• Farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is strongly preferred.
