About the position

The Team Member position at Tractor Supply Company is a vital role that focuses on delivering exceptional customer service while supporting various selling initiatives. This position requires individuals to interact with customers and fellow team members, ensuring a positive shopping experience. Team Members are expected to maintain regular attendance and work scheduled shifts, which may include varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as dictated by business needs. The role emphasizes the importance of greeting customers, uncovering their needs, recommending products, and asking for the sale, all of which contribute to the overall sales goals of the store. In addition to customer interaction, Team Members are responsible for a variety of tasks that make up 95 percent of their daily activities. These tasks include operating the cash register and following established cash handling procedures, recovering merchandise, participating in the freight process, completing merchandising tasks such as plan-o-gram procedures, assembling merchandise, and performing janitorial duties. Team Members are also tasked with executing price changes and markdowns, assisting customers with loading their purchases, and ensuring the safety and well-being of birds in the store. This includes sanitizing and maintaining poultry holding tanks and caring for the birds as required. Team Members must complete all documentation associated with their job duties and may be assigned additional tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Work scheduled shifts and have the ability to work varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as dictated by business needs.
• Greet customers and uncover their needs.
• Recommend products and ask for the sale.
• Operate cash register/computer following cash handling procedures.
• Recover merchandise and participate in mandatory freight process.
• Complete Plan-o-gram procedures (merchandising, sets, and resets).
• Assemble merchandise and perform janitorial duties.
• Execute price changes and markdowns.
• Assist customers with loading purchases.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of birds, sanitize and maintain poultry holding tanks, and care for birds as required.
• Complete all documentation associated with job duties.

Requirements

• High School Diploma is preferred.
• No experience is required.
• Ability to read, write, and count accurately.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.

Nice-to-haves

• Farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is strongly preferred.
