About the position

The Diesel Technician - Class B plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and operational efficiency of the company's fleet diesel equipment. This position involves repairing, maintaining, and overhauling medium to heavy-duty trucks and trailers, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations. The technician works under minimal supervision and is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and minor repairs, contributing to a safe working environment for all associates.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and refrigeration units.
• Identify root causes of basic failures and perform necessary repairs.
• Ensure equipment has required licensing and registration for roadworthiness.
• Document work orders and maintenance activities through the online Enterprise Asset Management system.
• Install, replace, and repair onboard computers.
• Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, and other critical components for proper operation.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes and battery checks using hand and power tools.
• Train and provide guidance to other mechanics.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or State Approved Equivalent
• 3 - 5 years of experience in medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair including preventative maintenance, tire and wheel, air brakes, and electrical troubleshooting.

Nice-to-haves

• Associates/2-Year Technical Degree or Vocational/Trade School Diploma
• 5 - 7 years of experience in medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair
• Preferred certifications in tire & wheel, brakes, AC &/or EPA, DOT inspections, transmissions, engines, ASE Heavy Duty.
