The Central Sterile Processing Technician/Aide is responsible for processing and delivering patient care equipment and supplies to various patient care areas. This role involves disassembling, cleaning, assembling, sterilizing, and storing instrumentation, trays, equipment, and supplies according to established procedures and aseptic techniques. The technician/aide also operates and tests sterilizers to ensure proper functioning.

  • Process and deliver patient care equipment and supplies to patient care areas.
  • Disassemble, clean, assemble, sterilize, and store instrumentation, trays, equipment, and supplies according to prescribed procedures.
  • Operate and test sterilizers to ensure proper functioning.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures.
  • Exercise responsible judgment to provide necessary supplies and equipment for patient care.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in a healthcare facility preferred.
  • Ability to read, write legibly, and understand instructions and names of technical instruments and supplies.
  • Certification in Central Service must be achieved within 24 months of hire for Central Service Aide.
  • Current Central Service Certification required for Central Sterile Processing Technician and Scope Technician, must be maintained throughout tenure.
  • Prior Central Sterile Processing work experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Infection Prevention and workflow principles.
