About the position

The Editorial Operations Lead at TechCrunch will play a crucial role in enabling writers to publish impactful content efficiently. This position involves managing the onboarding of new team members, troubleshooting publishing issues, and ensuring adherence to SEO standards. The lead will also coordinate with product and engineering teams, track editorial progress, and support freelance writers, all while maintaining a focus on the tech industry and startup coverage.

Responsibilities

• Onboard new YF team users to understand the basics of the WordPress publishing solution and related tools.
• Troubleshoot publishing-related issues for the newsroom team and execute training related to WordPress and other publishing tools.
• Implement SEO best practices and educate newsroom team members on effective writing strategies.
• Monitor and report on adherence to SEO standards.
• Deliver newsroom requests to Product/Engineering and monitor progress, prioritizing and documenting requirements related to the publishing process.
• Track editorial progress related to sponsorships, including forecasting inventory and managing delivery.
• Maintain various landing pages and update the techcrunch.com navigation bar based on business, editorial, and SEO direction.
• Address outside corrections emails sent to TechCrunch.
• Support freelance writers, including onboarding, contracts, payments, and offboarding.
• Create and maintain event coverage plans for TechCrunch events like Disrupt and StrictlyVC.

Requirements

• 4+ years managing workflow, content, and users in a WordPress CMS.
• Demonstrable understanding of content management within an organization.
• Highly skilled using the Marfeel analytics package.
• Experience sourcing solutions for or writing requirements for content projects and tools.
• Familiarity with tech media, events, and the tech industry at large.
• Self-starter that proactively seeks opportunities to drive efficiency.
• Experience working with geographically dispersed teams and external partners.
