About the position

The Tech Lead for Applied Machine Learning Algorithm at ByteDance is responsible for advancing the company's AI infrastructure and recommendation platforms, particularly in the areas of ads ranking, search ranking, and live & e-commerce ranking. This role involves applying and optimizing machine learning algorithms in key products like Douyin (TikTok) and Toutiao, collaborating with engineering teams to explore new algorithms, and driving significant impact on the company's core businesses.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the application and optimization of machine learning algorithms in products such as Douyin (TikTok) and Toutiao.
• Work on recommendation systems, advertising, multimodal pre-training, and scientific computing that require significant computational resources.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to explore new algorithms under new architectures.

Requirements

• Proficiency in C/C++ programming skills with a solid foundation and excellent programming style.
• Familiarity with at least one mainstream deep learning programming framework (TensorFlow/PyTorch).
• Knowledge of deep learning algorithms (CNN/RNN/LSTM/RL, large-scale Sparse&Dense models for recommendation and advertising).
• Ability to independently solve problems and possess a strong sense of teamwork and excellent communication skills.
• Strong motivation, willingness to accept challenges, and innovative thinking.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with algorithm design in large-scale systems.
• Practical project experience in recommendation systems, advertising, multimodal applications, or scientific computing.
