About the position

TikTok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video, and our mission is to inspire creativity and bring joy. As part of the User Growth team, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth initiatives for TikTok and its platforms through a data-driven and results-focused engineering and product mindset. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with external traffic platforms, such as search engines and major social media products, to enhance TikTok's visibility and user acquisition strategies. You will lead technical directions in areas like content mining, content understanding, and web UI presentation strategies, while also designing A/B testing frameworks to measure the impact of these technologies on traffic acquisition. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and growing a business engineering team of over 10 backend and frontend engineers, ensuring a solid foundation for user growth. You will leverage data to gain insights into user behavior and content systems, identify opportunities for improvement, and execute projects that drive user growth. Additionally, you will lead the development of large-scale software systems that support TikTok's user acquisition strategies, while also improving system design and architecture to ensure high stability, performance, and reliability of the product. Collaboration with multiple cross-functional teams will be essential to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced product development environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a business engineering team of 10+ backend and frontend engineers.
• Leverage data to understand users and content systems, identifying areas of opportunity.
• Execute projects to drive user growth.
• Develop large-scale software systems that power TikTok's user acquisition strategies.
• Improve system design and architecture for high stability, performance, and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality work in rapid product development.

Requirements

• Experienced in building services for large-scale consumer-facing applications, preferably in search and social media.
• Proficient in at least one of the following languages: Go, Python, Java, C++.
• Deep understanding of computer architectures, data structures, and algorithms.
• Excellent team communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

• 2 years experience leading a backend/full-stack engineering team.
• BS/MS Degree in Computer Science or related major.
