About the position

The MRI PRN position at SSM Health involves performing diagnostic medical imaging using magnetic resonance technology under the guidance of a Radiologist, Director, and Manager. The role emphasizes patient safety, quality imaging, and adherence to departmental standards while providing excellent service to patients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Perform magnetic resonance imaging examinations.
  • Provide MR safety screening for all patients, visitors, and staff before entering MR rooms.
  • Conduct job duties in accordance with departmental standards and communicate technical information appropriately.
  • Produce quality images consistently and serve as a resource to co-workers.
  • Assess vein/site selection and initiate venipuncture as per established standards.
  • Maintain proficiency in the utilization of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Observe departmental policies and procedures, including quality assurance and infection control standards.
  • Prepare written documentation as required by the profession and department.
  • Use Hospital/Radiology system according to established policy and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  • Follow hospital and radiology policies regarding bio-hazardous waste and safety protocols.
  • Practice universal precautions and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Provide service excellence to customers by delivering timely, high-quality care.
  • Incorporate Quality Assessment into daily work and recommend changes for efficiency.
  • Provide age-appropriate care to patients of all ages and assess their specific needs.
  • Provide specialized care to patients at high risk for injury, including pain management and abuse assessment.
  • Communicate effectively with medical staff, co-workers, and patients.
  • Participate in continuing education and attend required meetings.

Requirements

  • Certification in MRI technology and relevant licensure.
  • Experience in performing MRI examinations and knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
  • Ability to assess situations and make appropriate decisions regarding patient care.
  • Strong communication skills to explain procedures to patients and families.
  • Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Radiology Information Systems (RIS).
  • Knowledge of safety and infection control standards in a healthcare setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a hospital setting or similar healthcare environment.
  • Additional certifications related to MRI or radiology.
