About the position

SLAIT Consulting is currently seeking a Tech Project Manager for a client in the Virginia Beach, VA area. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and will be expected to effectively communicate with Executive Leadership. This role involves managing a team of 5-8 individuals and requires the ability to articulate the size and complexity of software utilized in previous projects. A background in Finance or Healthcare is preferred for this position. In this role, the Tech Project Manager will work independently with business partners to identify and implement medium to large technical projects, as defined by the company's methodology. These projects may include broad-based information systems, full life-cycle application development, building enterprise applications, or data warehouse planning and development. The manager will direct system analysts, software designers, and programmers to determine the best methods to achieve project objectives. This position is responsible for applying project management knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project deliverables, processes, and systems. The Tech Project Manager will be responsible for all aspects of project management, including initiating, planning, executing, closing, and controlling projects. Major job duties include coaching and mentoring project team members, determining project scope, developing resource, risk, quality, cost, and scope management plans, and creating training plans. The manager will also develop requirements documents, project approval matrices, and identify project team training and tool needs. Additionally, they will define, recommend, and secure contractual agreements for technical services and products, coordinate requirements, schedules for implementation, and post-implementation plans, and develop service-level agreements for vendor partners and global resource firms. The manager will define quality gates for each project methodology phase, establish critical success factors, and manage the project warranty period.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and manages the project warranty period.

Requirements

• BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline with IT focus degree.
• 5 years of project management experience in broad-based information systems, full life-cycle application development, and/or building enterprise applications and/or data warehouse planning and development.
• Project management certification preferred.
• Demonstrated application of and proven success of project management methodology, management tools, analysis and research tools, documentation tools, and reporting tools required.
• Experience in coaching and mentoring project team members preferred.
• Experience in creating an effective team environment, building strong relationships, negotiation, solving problems and issues, resolving conflicts, managing resources in a matrix environment, communicating and influencing effectively at all levels of an organization required.
