About the position

University Hospital is seeking a dedicated Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our team, providing exceptional care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. As a Registered Pharmacy Technician, you will play a crucial role in pharmacy operations, assisting pharmacists in various duties and ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks essential to the pharmacy's operations. This includes setting up unit of use medications, preparing I.V./piggyback admixtures, pre-packs, and filling unit dose cassettes. You will also refill and load medications into Pyxis systems and manage routine and emergency floor/unit stock orders. Additionally, you will handle medication requests from patients or units/clinics, respond to telephone inquiries, and perform operations in both inpatient and outpatient computer systems, including prescription or order entry, crediting and charging, and label generation. Your contributions will directly impact the quality of care our patients receive, making this a rewarding position for those passionate about pharmacy and patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up unit of use medications

  • Receiving medication requests from patients or units/clinics

  • Performing operations in the Inpatient and Outpatient computer systems, including prescription or order entry, crediting and charging, and label generation

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school/GED or equivalent experience is required
  • Two years of experience as a registered pharmacy technician (CPhT) is preferred
  • Texas State Board of Pharmacy registration required
