About the position

Axle is seeking a Tech Writer to support scientific and technical writing needs at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) in Bethesda, MD. The role involves creating clear and effective communication materials related to HLBS research initiatives and public health issues, ensuring that discoveries from NHLBI-supported laboratories are disseminated to health professionals and the public. The Tech Writer will collaborate with various divisions and offices to develop communication strategies and materials, including reports, articles, and presentations, while adhering to industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Support scientific and technical writing needs using plain language.
• Develop communication plans and strategies to disseminate HLBS messages.
• Prepare Situation Analysis documents detailing the communications environment.
• Create Concept Briefs outlining communication project goals and objectives.
• Draft communication plans with innovative approaches linked to project goals.
• Research, write, and edit manuscripts, journal articles, and media materials.
• Prepare summaries, reports, and presentations on literature reviews.
• Assist data managers in organizing and uploading information to data repositories.
• Maintain databases of research materials and literature reviews.
• Provide expert guidance on scientific and technical writing to researchers and staff.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Communications or related field.
• Mid-level experience in project management and organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Experience in clinical trials and project leadership.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of health, research, or scientific communication best practices.
