About the position

The Technical Account Manager (TAM) at AWS Enterprise Support plays a crucial role in supporting Department of Defense customers by providing technical guidance and advocacy. This position focuses on driving customer adoption of AWS services and ensuring operational health within their environments. The TAM acts as the principal technical advisor, representing AWS and engaging with senior leadership to address incidents, support, and risk management. This role is not sales-oriented but is centered on fostering close relationships with customers to understand their needs and challenges, ultimately helping them achieve maximum value from AWS services.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the principal technical advisor and 'voice of the customer' for Department of Defense customers.
  • Craft and execute strategies to drive customer adoption and use of AWS services.
  • Provide advocacy and strategic technical guidance to help plan and build solutions using best practices.
  • Maintain operational health of customers' AWS environments.
  • Engage in discussions with senior leadership regarding incidents, trade-offs, support, and risk management.
  • Develop close relationships with customers to understand their business and technical challenges.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of external, customer-facing experience in a technical engineering or architectural role.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, or related discipline required, or 3 years of equivalent work experience.
  • Internal enterprise or external customer-facing experience as a technical lead.
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of external, customer-facing experience in a technical engineering or architectural role.
  • Professional oral and written communication skills, presenting to senior decision makers.
  • Engineering experience designing mission workloads utilizing AWS services and/or other cloud offerings.
  • Experience in architecturally implementing security controls and concepts such as NIST 800-53, NIST-800-171, FedRAMP, DoD CC SRG, and/or CNSSI 1253.
