About the position

The Technical Account Manager (TAM) at AWS is a pivotal role focused on providing strategic technical guidance and advocacy to enterprise customers. This position is not sales-oriented but emphasizes building strong relationships with clients to help them maximize their use of AWS services. The TAM will work closely with customers to understand their operational needs and technical challenges, ensuring their AWS environments remain healthy and optimized. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and customer-facing skills, enabling the TAM to effectively represent AWS and drive discussions with senior leadership regarding support and risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the principal technical advisor and 'voice of the customer' for AWS services.
  • Craft and execute strategies to drive customer adoption and use of AWS services.
  • Provide advocacy and strategic technical guidance to customers.
  • Help plan and build solutions using AWS best practices.
  • Maintain operational health of customers' AWS environments.
  • Develop close relationships with customers to understand their business and technical needs.
  • Drive discussions with senior leadership regarding incidents and support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, or related discipline, and 2+ years of equivalent work experience or 4+ years of related work experience.
  • 2+ years of technical engineering experience.
  • Experience in Information Technology operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of the AWS Well-Architected Framework pillars.
  • Internal enterprise or external customer-facing experience as a technical lead.
  • Professional oral and written communication skills, especially in presenting to executive audiences.
  • Experience in a distributed systems environment.
  • Experience in a 24x7 operational services or support environment.
  • Familiarity with AWS services and/or other cloud offerings.
