About the position

The Technical Account Manager (TAM) role at AWS is designed to support customers in maximizing their use of AWS services. This position acts as a principal technical advisor, focusing on customer advocacy and strategic guidance rather than direct troubleshooting. The TAM will work closely with customers to understand their operational needs and technical challenges, ensuring their AWS environments remain healthy and resilient. This role requires a blend of technical acumen and customer-facing skills, enabling effective communication with senior leadership and collaboration with engineering teams to resolve issues and drive service adoption.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the principal technical advisor and advocate for AWS customers.
  • Work proactively to craft and execute strategies for customer adoption of AWS services.
  • Provide strategic technical guidance to help plan and build solutions using best practices.
  • Maintain operational health and resilience of customers' AWS environments.
  • Drive discussions with senior leadership regarding incidents, trade-offs, support, and risk management.
  • Collaborate with engineers and service teams to resolve customer support issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, or related discipline, and 2+ years of equivalent work experience or 4+ years of related work experience.
  • 2+ years of technical engineering experience.
  • Eligibility to access and support AWS GovCloud.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of the AWS Well-Architected Framework pillars and their application to customer architecture.
  • Experience as a technical lead in internal enterprise or external customer-facing roles.
  • Ability to apply technical or operational expertise to solve complex challenges.
  • Strong professional oral and written communication skills, especially in presentations to executive teams.
  • Experience in a distributed systems environment.
  • Background in Information Technology operations.
  • Experience in a 24x7 operational services or support environment.
  • Familiarity with AWS services and/or other cloud offerings.
