About the position

The Technical Account Manager - Outside Sales role is focused on providing technical support and sales management for an industrial distribution company specializing in products such as industrial hoses, welding equipment, and safety supplies. The position involves engaging with clients in the East and Southeast Houston area, ensuring customer satisfaction, and driving sales growth through effective account management and technical assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent technical support to new clients through calls and onsite visits.
  • Conduct assessments to determine client needs and provide solutions.
  • Perform follow-up calls, answer inquiries, and present proposals.
  • Work closely with the sales manager and team to manage existing accounts and support new business.
  • Obtain sales growth by developing new business revenue by promoting and selling industrial products.
  • Plan and keep calendar updated with sales calls and tasks.
  • Schedule and make daily sales calls to new or potential customers.
  • Support the annual sales objectives of the company and achieve positive results.
  • Develop and execute a sales plan to generate new business.
  • Manage and analyze sales progress of accounts obtained.
  • Coordinate delivery of proposals and quotes to meet customer requirements.
  • Present company and product presentations to current or potential customers.
  • Attend sales training as required and travel for training, trade shows, and business development.
  • Attend weekly sales meetings and quarterly sales reviews, presenting details related to sales goals.
  • Manage expense reports and provide justification as required.
  • Promote safety throughout the company and attend monthly safety meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Distribution, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Sales Engineering, Business, or a Technical Degree.
  • 2-5 years of experience in sales, preferably in industrial hoses, welding equipment, and safety products.
  • Strong communication and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage projects, and develop solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional knowledge and experience in sales with industrial hoses, welding equipment, safety products, mill supplies, lubricants, and janitorial products.
