About the position

The Technical Account Manager (TAM) at Amazon Web Services (AWS) is responsible for supporting customers' digital transformations by providing technical guidance and advocacy. This role is not sales-focused but serves as the principal technical advisor to Public Sector Partners, helping them adopt and utilize a wide range of AWS services. The TAM will engage with customers to understand their operational needs and challenges, ensuring their AWS environments remain operationally healthy and aligned with best practices. This position requires a strong technical background, customer-facing skills, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to drive customer success.

Responsibilities

  • Educate, empower, and evolve customer's AWS experience through technical guidance, solution-building, and advocacy.
  • Ensure AWS workloads have risk mitigations in place and adhere to operationally sound practices.
  • Proactively lead customers to long-term success using Bias For Action and Customer Obsession principles.
  • Work with a range of customer stakeholders from developers to C-suite executives.
  • Develop customer partnerships to align the right priorities, solutions, and business outcomes.
  • Demonstrate technical leadership at scale and avoid pitfalls of thinking small.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional AWS Teams, including Solutions Architects, Business Developers, Professional Services Consultants, and Sales Account Managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or 2+ years of related work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role such as Technical Account Manager, Consultant, Solutions Architect, or Systems Engineer.
  • 2+ years of customer-facing experience in technical engineering or systems architecture.
  • Understanding of operational parameters and troubleshooting for three of the following domains: AIML, Compute, Storage, Serverless Architectures, Networking, CDN, Databases, DevOps, Big Data and Analytics, Security, Applications Development.
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Informational Technology operations.
  • Internal enterprise or external customer-facing experience as a technical lead.
  • Executive level technical consulting experience.
  • Programming or scripting skills in Java, Python, Perl, Ruby, C#, and/or PHP.
  • Previous experience as a Software Engineer, Developer, or DevOps Engineer.
  • Professional experience with cloud offerings such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Understanding of DevOps practices and tools including Continuous Integration/Deployment, Puppet, Docker, Kubernetes, Chef.
