About the position

The Applications Engineer for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) at COMSOL will play a crucial role in the sales team by leveraging technical expertise and interpersonal skills to assist customers in understanding how COMSOL's product line can meet their needs. This position requires a blend of engineering, business, sales, and communication skills, aimed at engaging with a diverse range of clients from startups to Fortune 500 companies. The role offers opportunities for personal and professional growth in both sales and engineering, while working in a small-office environment within a rapidly growing company.

Responsibilities

• Drive sales from initial contact to close via phone and web meetings.
• Increase and develop new accounts in an assigned territory, industry, or engineering discipline.
• Manage and grow existing accounts through account strategy, resource allocation, and customer service.
• Engage regularly with customers and prospects to understand their business needs and identify key influencers and decision makers.
• Understand and articulate the value of simulation software, especially the advantages of multiphysics simulation.
• Present COMSOL's capabilities and its use at public seminars, web meetings, customer-site presentations, and professional conferences.
• Effectively collaborate with other team members, particularly in the engineering, marketing, licensing, and legal groups.

Requirements

• Master's degree or equivalent in engineering, physical sciences, life sciences, or closely related field with no experience (degree in Electrical Engineering preferable); or Bachelor's degree in the same fields with three (3) years of work experience in technical sales roles or providing technical professional services.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Ability and willingness to travel domestically for limited times to run or assist in running COMSOL-sponsored events and activities.
