About the position

The Technical Accountant role at Insight Global involves identifying, researching, and documenting complex technical accounting treatments related to various business activities, ensuring compliance with IFRS and US GAAP. The position requires a strong understanding of financial accounting and reporting, with responsibilities including the preparation and review of financial statements, implementation of new accounting standards, and collaboration with external advisors for SOX compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, research, and document complex technical accounting treatment related to acquisitions, divestitures, swaps, and corporate structure reorganization plans.
  • Review contracts with complex financial arrangements for accounting implications, including lease accounting and revenue recognition.
  • Prepare and/or review single entity and consolidated financial statements with related footnote disclosures in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Assist with the implementation of new accounting standards and conversion of financial statements between IFRS and US GAAP.
  • Interact closely with external accounting advisors in preparation for SOX compliance, including updating risk control matrices and process control narratives.
  • Lead ad-hoc accounting projects and collaborate with stakeholders and senior management, providing updates and solutions in a timely manner.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages for various entities and business units.
  • Support various aspects of the month-end close process, including recording journal entries and preparing comparative period variance analysis.
  • Evaluate processes and internal controls for continuous improvement recommendations and opportunities to implement automation and efficiency.
  • Support the Head Office Financial Reporting Team with relevant data for interim and annual external reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting
  • 12+ years of financial accounting/reporting experience with working knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP
  • Prior hands-on experience working in the E&P industry
  • CPA or CA license required
  • Strong technical accounting skills and experience preparing complex consolidated financial statements
  • Advanced level in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Prior public accounting experience with large publicly traded clients
  • Experience working with SAP
