About the position

The Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting Specialist at Bloomberg Finance plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and compliance of the company's financial statements. This position is situated within the Chief Accounting Office (CAO), which is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of financial information and the effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR). The successful candidate will be tasked with conducting technical accounting research, particularly in relation to complex transactions that span both US and global operations. This includes areas such as purchase accounting, revenue recognition, leasing, and fair value measurements. The role requires a deep understanding of both US GAAP and IFRS accounting principles, as well as the ability to communicate complex accounting concepts to various stakeholders, including external auditors. In this position, you will serve as an accounting liaison for acquisitions and dispositions, and will be the primary contact for purchase price allocations and fair valuation projects. You will also be responsible for implementing and maintaining internal controls over the technical accounting research process, ensuring timely resolution of accounting matters, and keeping abreast of new accounting guidance and regulations. This role involves leading training sessions on US GAAP and IFRS matters across the organization and assisting in the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, including the compilation of related footnotes and supporting materials. Responsibilities

  • Conduct US GAAP and IFRS technical accounting research for complex transactions.
  • Serve as an accounting liaison for acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls over the technical accounting research process.
  • Ensure timely resolution of technical accounting matters through coordination with various teams.
  • Keep abreast of new accounting guidance and lead implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Lead training on US GAAP and IFRS matters across the organization.
  • Assist in the review and preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements.
  • Assist with the review of financial statements of US and overseas subsidiaries.
  • Update and maintain corporate accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assist in miscellaneous accounting initiatives as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • CPA designation
  • 7+ years of accounting experience, including at a public accounting firm
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS
  • Exposure to Merger & Acquisition due diligence activity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong leadership behavior and ability to lead by influence
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
  • Demonstrates flexibility in prioritizing and completing tasks.
