The Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for supporting the company's financial reporting process and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves managing the preparation of financial statements, providing technical accounting guidance, and supporting the implementation of new accounting standards. The manager will work closely with various departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the financial reporting process, including the preparation of financial statements in compliance with US GAAP (including Monthly, Quarterly, and Year-End Reporting Commentary)
  • Act as the subject matter expert on US GAAP and SEC regulations for preparing and filing SEC reports and demonstrate a clear understanding of related authoritative literature governing financial reporting for public companies
  • Manage the development, implementation, and adherence to accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Prepare technical accounting memos and analysis as needed, including preparation and review of technical accounting items
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with new accounting standards and provide guidance to ensure proper accounting treatment
  • Collaborate with finance and operations teams to support the development, implementation, and monitoring of project accounting procedures for energy storage projects, ensuring accurate cost tracking, inventory management, and reporting
  • Work closely with external auditors, preparing and providing necessary documentation and support to ensure a smooth and timely audit process
  • Provide technical accounting training to support the business in understanding the accounting implications relating to routine transactions
  • Support the Director - Revenue Cost Accounting; SVP, Finance & Accounting, and the executive leadership team by providing financial insights, guidance, and recommendations to inform strategic decision-making
  • Develop and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams, partners, and external stakeholders
  • Mentor and guide members of the accounting and finance team to ensure a high level of efficiency and expertise

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • CPA certification is required
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting and financial reporting experience, preferably in the energy or energy storage industry
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP accounting matters
  • Proven experience with financial statement preparation and SEC reporting
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex accounting concepts to non-accounting colleagues
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and experience with NetSuite ERP system a plus
  • Self-driven and self-sufficient in identifying and resolving complex issues as they arise
