Systems Control is seeking a Technical Accounting Manager to join our Integrated Substation Solutions team. As North America's leader in the design and manufacturing of solutions that protect, transmit, and distribute energy, we take pride in our role in delivering energy to those who need it. This position is crucial for managing Systems Control's Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and revenue compliance functions, as well as supporting the monthly and quarterly close processes. The role is hybrid, with a preference for candidates located at our facilities in Iron Mountain, MI, or Des Moines, IA, or at another Hubbell location. The primary responsibility of the Technical Accounting Manager is to ensure that revenue recognition complies with Hubbell policies, internal controls, and US GAAP. This position will oversee the project accounting process and collaborate with various levels throughout the organization. In this role, you will manage functional areas of responsibility, including revenue recognition, ensuring that activities are executed in a timely and accurate manner in compliance with internal controls and corporate policy. You will perform accounting assessments of new contracts to determine revenue recognition in accordance with Hubbell's policies and ASC 606, collaborating with the sales team on MSA/contract language to ensure compliance with standard company policies. Additionally, you will partner with operations and project managers to validate and maintain control documentation for key inputs in the company's over-time accounting model, including providing updates to expected project costs. You will work closely with the accounting and finance team to design effective accounting and reporting processes with a strong focus on internal controls. Staying current with emerging accounting guidance that may impact the business is essential, as is effectively communicating findings to the company's leadership team. You will also serve as a liaison with the Hubbell Corporate accounting team on technical accounting matters, presenting findings, assessments, and alternatives to finance leadership. Month-end close routines, including journal entries and account reconciliations, will be part of your responsibilities, along with partnering with FP&A on forecasting revenue and costs related to projects recognized over time. You will assist with both internal and external financial audit activities and analyze financial transactions for errors or deficiencies, identifying root causes and implementing improvements to prevent recurrences. Special projects may also be assigned as needed.
