About the position

The position involves providing technical accounting support within DISH's Financial organization, focusing on research, analysis, and compliance with accounting standards. The role is critical in ensuring accurate financial reporting and adherence to US GAAP and SEC regulations, while also offering opportunities to engage with various business lines and gain diverse financial experience.

Responsibilities

• Research accounting issues, including reviewing contracts to determine proper accounting treatment
• Prepare and review annual, quarterly, and ad hoc technical accounting memos
• Create models and analyses regarding technical accounting concepts, including revenue recognition and lease accounting
• Assist with SEC filings (Forms 10-K and 10-Q), as needed
• Maintain strong working knowledge of relevant US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations
• Monitor, assess and implement new accounting pronouncements applicable to the company and transactions
• Support ad hoc requests, as required

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting
• Minimum of 4-7 years of experience in accounting, including prior experience in public accounting
• Masters degree preferred
• CPA preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial statements required
• Strong interest in technical US GAAP, including a solid foundation in accounting analysis and ability to read and understand US GAAP guidance
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Knowledge of financial concepts beyond accounting
• Knowledge of internal controls over financial reporting
• Ability to be detail-oriented while thinking strategically
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly growing environment
• Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Excel
• Ability to work with multiple employee groups, including the executive level
