About the position

The Technical Accounting Manager at Western Digital is responsible for overseeing the SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting function, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP for all external financial reporting. This role involves monitoring new accounting standards, analyzing complex transactions, and collaborating with various internal stakeholders to implement effective accounting policies. The manager will also prepare financial statements, liaise with external auditors, and lead a team of finance professionals to drive results in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and research new accounting standards, summarizing and communicating impacts to executives and the Audit Committee.
• Analyze and understand complex transactions, applying complex accounting standards and developing solutions to problems.
• Review and monitor corporate accounting policies, implementing revisions as necessary to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.
• Collaborate with internal clients including General Accounting, Corporate FP&A, Manufacturing Operations, IT, Treasury, and others.
• Manage periodic reviews and assessments for complex accounting areas such as impairment assessments and lease accounting.
• Prepare financial statements and disclosures for complex accounting areas.
• Liaise with external auditors and company stakeholders to manage audit execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting and hold a CPA.
• 4+ years of experience with complex accounting including SEC reporting and GAAP.
• Proven success in managing a team of finance professionals through ambiguity while driving results.
• Prior experience working in Public Accounting (Big 4) is highly preferred.
• Confident communicator with the ability to influence senior executives and business leaders.
• Strong strategic thinking and nimble problem-solving skills.
