About the position

The Technical Advisor (Senior) position at the Department of the Treasury involves providing expert guidance and support in the Small Business Self Employed division. The role focuses on developing operational plans, monitoring sensitive issues, and ensuring compliance with tax laws while enhancing program efficiency and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

• Assist managers in developing and executing operational plans for effective resource deployment across teams.
• Monitor and address sensitive and confidential matters including Congressional inquiries and employee tax issues.
• Formulate and effectuate the organization's policies and procedures.
• Provide evaluative input through the appropriate management chain.
• Analyze and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization's processing of programs.
• Provide direction and guidance for program continuity and policy formulation.
• Identify procedural and systemic problems and recommend corrective actions.
• Serve as a resource for front-line managers and tax examiners.
• Resolve complex issues and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
• Instruct classes for internal and external customers on relevant issues.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service.
• Demonstrated knowledge of IRS functions, programs, policies, regulations, and operations.
• Experience using analytical and evaluative methods to assess program operations.
• Skill in recognizing significant tax issues and enforcement changes.
• Strong oral and written communication skills for conducting briefings and preparing reports.
