About the position

Sabel Systems Technology Solutions, LLC is seeking a Technical Agile Project Lead to join our dynamic team. As a leading solution provider for innovative and agile Digital Engineering and Acquisition Technical Stack design, implementation, and support, we operate across various sectors including the Department of Defense (DoD), industry, and academia. The Technical Agile Project Lead will play a crucial role in managing the development and management of Digital Engineering applications, ensuring that quality and secure solutions are delivered to our customers as swiftly as possible. In this role, the Agile Project Lead will be responsible for effectively managing development sprints from planning through execution and review in an agile development environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, enabling them to provide credible leadership to development teams and accurately evaluate complex project risks and issues. A solid understanding of software development life cycle models, along with expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles, is essential. The candidate will be expected to blend these methodologies appropriately to fit the specific project and business environment. Key responsibilities include facilitating daily scrums, managing the product backlog, collaborating on requirement documentation, and addressing support tickets to remove barriers that hinder team progress. The Agile Project Lead will communicate and collaborate primarily with development teams, customer success teams, and senior management, ensuring alignment and clarity throughout the project lifecycle. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying and eliminating impediments, maintaining high performance, and driving continuous improvement within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates daily stand-up, iteration planning, sprint review, and iteration retrospective.
  • Manages the development projects and facilitates sprint releases.
  • Creates or analyzes business requirements documents and project timelines.
  • Guides team in time estimating practices and facilitates team estimates.
  • Determines best approach to project execution (agile, traditional, or a mix).
  • Drives team iteration execution, communicates with management and stakeholders, protects the team from uncontrolled injection of work.
  • Manages project conflicts, challenges, and dynamic business requirements to keep operations running at a high performance.
  • Works with the team leads to resolve people problems and project roadblocks.
  • Provides leadership to system analysts, system architects, and collaborates with customers to develop strategies and solutions of high business value.
  • Conducts postmortem and root cause analysis to help teams continuously improve their practices.
  • Leads team effort in relentless improvement, defines and implements improvement stories to increase the velocity and quality of the program.
  • Implements and supports principles, rules, and processes.
  • Proactively identifies and eliminates impediments and facilitates flow.
  • Maintains team data in project management software (i.e. JIRA, etc.) to support estimates and execution.
  • Presents high-level project readouts for senior management.
  • Supports product owner(s) with intra-team dynamics with respect to priorities and scope.
  • Manages other special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8+ years of project management/agile/development experience and 4+ years leading Agile teams.
  • Familiarity with PTC Windchill and PTC ThingWorx.
  • Demonstrable expertise in agile methodology and frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, etc.
  • Strong understanding of traditional project management methods as governed by the PMI.
  • Possesses Agile Certification (CSM, PSM I, etc.).
  • Thrives in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Expert coach on implementation of agile scrum.
  • Deep understanding of the fundamentals of iterative and incremental development.
  • Strong knowledge of Scrum theory, rules, and practices.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile procedures to predict the development teams' needs.
  • Solid experience working with Architecture teams to assess and size story/epics.
  • Passionate commitment to delivering products on time.
  • Comfortable with presenting project readouts to Executive level audience.
  • Deep understanding of agile metrics (tasks, backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, user stories etc.) to analyze and improve sprint planning.
  • Ability to understand and represent both the business and technology.
  • Understanding of programming languages (Java, JavaScript, C++, PHP, etc.).
  • Understanding of form or web-based UI design.
  • Understanding of SQL and database design.
  • Understanding of REST-based web services and JSON.
  • Understanding of ETL, data migration, and integration.
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming and knowledge of polymorphism.
  • Knowledge of OData protocol.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and organized.
  • Ability to follow security protocol to protect sensitive data.
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a qualifying technical field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Management Information Systems.
  • CAPM or PMP certified.
  • Experience with PTC Windchill and PTC ThingWorx.
  • Experience with programming languages - VB, C#, C++, Java, etc.
