About the position

The Technical Analyst (Clinical Business Analyst Lvl 1) position at NYC Health + Hospitals is a vital role responsible for providing technical expertise in the implementation and enhancement of Biomedical systems utilized across the health system. This position plays a crucial part in ensuring that biomedical systems are effectively integrated with Epic, the electronic health record system used by the organization. The selected individual will be tasked with implementing components of biomedical systems for all facilities, ensuring optimal interfacing with Epic, and performing rigorous testing of new biomedical devices and integration technologies. In this role, the Technical Analyst will configure biomedical systems middleware to facilitate seamless integration with Epic, troubleshoot and resolve integration issues, and contribute to the overall testing efforts for biomedical systems implementation. The position also involves building and testing configurations that support high availability and disaster recovery across the organization's data centers. Documentation is a key aspect of this role, as the analyst will be responsible for maintaining comprehensive records of all work performed, including software test plans, technical requirements, release notes, and user training guidelines. Additionally, the Technical Analyst will provide application support, addressing any functional defects and arranging necessary training for systems and applications. Collaboration with other team members and departments is essential to coordinate activities effectively. This position offers a flexible work environment, with approximately 80% of the work being remote and up to 20% requiring on-site presence, necessitating the ability to come into the office within 48 hours when required.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the integration of biomedical systems along with the implementation of Epic.
  • Ensure that the appropriate biomedical systems are in place to interface with Epic in an optimal manner.
  • Perform testing of new biomedical devices and integration technology.
  • Configure biomedical systems middleware to interface with Epic using the required middleware.
  • Resolve integration problems with biomedical applications and Epic.
  • Contribute to the testing effort for biomedical systems implementation.
  • Build and test a configuration that supports high availability and disaster recovery across data centers.
  • Document all work performed including software test plans, technical requirements, release notes, user and training guidelines, and other materials.
  • Perform application support functions including problem solving and resolution of application function defects.
  • Arrange for systems and application training.
  • Coordinate activities with other team members and departments.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree or advanced clinical degree from an accredited college or university; or
  • A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of experience gathering and documenting business, clinical, and/or functional requirements for software applications development and implementation in a clinical, allied health, non-allied health, behavioral health, information technology, information services, business, analytics or related area; or one (1) year of experience in a relevant clinical and/or healthcare administration role/function; or
  • A satisfactory combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Specialty certification(s) issued by a national commercially available program, state, professional society, academic or technical institution in an area(s) listed above, may be credited on a month-to-month basis toward the required work experience for a total of one (1) year.

Nice-to-haves

  • Good knowledge of computer and communications hardware capabilities and utilization.
  • Experience with bedside monitoring devices, ventilators, anesthesia machines, ultrasound machines, etc.
  • One-year experience in the integration of biomedical systems and electronic medical record systems, preferably with Epic.
