About the position

The Technical Application Engineer at Doble Engineering Company is responsible for providing pre and post-sales technical support, training, and operational assistance for protection hardware and software. This role involves collaborating with sales teams, preparing test plans, delivering customer training, and supporting product development through customer feedback. The engineer will also write technical documentation and assist in research and development projects, ensuring effective communication with customers and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre and post-sales technical support on Doble protection hardware and software.
• Support Regional Sales Managers in demonstrating products to potential customers.
• Assist customers via email, telephone, and web-based solutions.
• Prepare test plans for various models of protection relays and control devices.
• Deliver training to customers on testing techniques and applications of Doble solutions.
• Support new product development and enhancements based on customer feedback.
• Write technical papers and application notes for Doble products and present at conferences.
• Provide technical expertise for research and development projects.
• Collaborate with other departments to facilitate positive working relationships.
• Support testing of new products and software evaluation to improve quality.
• Report issues via established software bug-logging systems and provide resolutions.
• Serve as a trainer for other Doble employees on various products.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Power and Energy Engineering or related field.
• 3 years of experience in protective relay testing engineering within the electrical power industry.
• Experience with Doble protection hardware and software solutions.
• Experience working with testing protection devices and complex numerical multifunction protection devices.
• Experience with Communication Network Technologies.
• Understanding of application protection and control schemes and ability to draw schematic diagrams.
• Experience with testing and diagnostics in field and laboratory environments.
• Experience with mathematical concepts for modeling relay characteristics.
• Customer service experience and ability to teach concepts to varied experience levels.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
• Project management experience with critical deadlines.
