About the position

The Technical Artist for the Metaverse at Meta plays a vital role in bridging the gap between artistic vision and engineering execution. This position involves close collaboration with diverse teams to develop innovative tools and systems that enhance the metaverse experience. The role requires a blend of technical expertise and artistic sensibility to optimize content across various devices while ensuring performance and quality standards are met.

Responsibilities

• Partner closely with the engineering and design teams to develop content across a range of devices.
• Implement runtime logic within a complex real-time environment with performance limitations in mind.
• Develop broad technical expertise to assist in a wide variety of technical and artistic tasks, including diagnosing and fixing bugs.
• Quickly solve issues with cross-functional leads.
• Design, manage and maintain the pipeline from artists and end users through to deployment.
• Prototype, profile and optimize custom shaders.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience developing real-time experiences.
• Demonstrated expertise with at least one of the following pipelines: Environments, Character, Rigging, Runtime Behaviors, or Asset Pipeline.
• Understanding of architecture for complex tools and pipelines with a focus on content creators.
• Experience in shader languages (GLSL, ShaderLab, HLSL).
• Experience with game/real-time profiling and optimization techniques.
• Experience collaborating on multi-disciplinary teams.
• Expertise working with version control systems (Git, Perforce, etc.), using advanced workflows.

Nice-to-haves

• Expertise in at least one low-level programming language (C++ preferred).
• Deep knowledge of real-time graphics pipeline concepts.
• Self-driven with a focus on the end product.
