About the position

The Technical Construction Project Manager at Tesla, Inc. is responsible for overseeing the design and engineering efforts for construction and infrastructure development. This role involves translating technical stakeholder requirements into project scopes, managing design reviews, and ensuring alignment across cross-functional teams. The position requires a strong understanding of engineering principles and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the full design and engineering effort for construction and infrastructure development from concept to production.
  • Translate technical stakeholder requirements into project scope with clear execution plans and responsibilities.
  • Organize and manage design reviews, construction design packages, and deliverables.
  • Manage all aspects of technical planning, scope development, change management, programming, design, and engineering services during construction.
  • Synthesize and own report-outs, highlighting status, risks, mitigations, and opportunities across all levels of management.
  • Identify resource requirements and highlight gaps across various stages for all projects.
  • Participate in BOM development and project funding request process.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with various cross-functional teams to ensure overall program alignment.
  • Support disciplines in conceptual engineering analysis for multiple scenarios.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field (foreign education equivalent accepted) and 2 years of experience as a construction project manager or related position.
  • Alternatively, a Master's degree in the relevant fields is acceptable.
  • Experience managing multi-discipline engineering projects through conceptualization, feasibility, funding, development, change management, permitting, and engineering services during construction.
  • Experience designing manufacturing facilities and site infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure engineering design principles, including mechanical, process, civil, structural, architectural, electrical, instrumentation and controls, fire suppression.
  • Familiarity with building, construction, and engineering laws/codes and jurisdictions.
