We are currently seeking a Technical Director for our Data Center Solutions Group (DSG). This role is pivotal in setting and driving the future vision and technical requirements for our data center solutions. The successful candidate will lead a team of experienced solutions architects, focusing on designs that span from node level to rack level, encompassing areas such as BIOS, security, cloud-native computing, memory technologies, high-performance fabrics, server/storage solutions, and the full application stack. The DSG Architecture and Strategy team aims to inform and influence AMD's leading System on Chips (SoCs), optimized for future visions through collaboration with internal stakeholders, customers, end users, and strategic partners. Ideal candidates will possess a broad and deep understanding of system technologies, with experience in developing, influencing, and collaborating on strategic initiatives. They should be adept at translating workload and application trends into system and SoC implications across the entire hardware and software stack. The ability to convert complex technical concepts into actionable plans is essential, as is the capacity to drive hands-on proof of concepts to gather data and insights. Exceptional communication skills are necessary to engage with multiple internal and external stakeholders effectively. Candidates should also be skilled in analyzing trade-offs and making analytical, fact-based recommendations that significantly impact technical, business, and financial outcomes. Building relationships with strategic customers and partners is crucial to ensure that AMD's data center products evolve to meet market needs. Collaboration with engineering, product management, and business development teams will be key to achieving outstanding business results.

Responsibilities

  • Drive workload and application-level strategies internally and with industry partners.
  • Partner with SoC design teams and product management to provide a unified and clear platform/system level vision to influence AMD's SoC roadmap.
  • Drive reference platform requirements and collaborate with engineering on balancing internal and external execution.
  • Represent AMD's data center system level vision in industry consortiums, events, and strategic partnerships.
  • Work with OEMs, end customers, and ISV/IHV partners to drive workload and use case plans that facilitate joint roadmap definition.

Requirements

  • Broad and deep system technology background.
  • Experience developing, influencing, and collaborating on strategy.
  • Ability to translate workload/application trends to system and SoC implications across the entire HW and SW stack.
  • Ability to translate highly technical concepts into actionable plans.
  • Ability to drive hands-on proof of concepts to collect data and facts.
  • Exceptional communication skills to address multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Skill in analyzing trade-offs and making analytical, fact-based recommendations that have substantial technical, business, and financial impacts.
  • Ability to guide product definition using credible insights developed by interacting with end customers, ISVs/IHVs, and strategic partners.
  • Ability to build relationships with strategic customers and partners.

  • Experience in modern application development and profiling.
