About the position

The Technical Director, Machine Learning Engineer at Epic Games will guide the technical direction of the Advanced Analytics and ML Services team. This role involves designing and implementing scalable solutions for batch and real-time workloads, supporting various business functions across the company. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, driven by team success, and enthusiastic about making advancements in Machine Learning at a large scale.

Responsibilities

• Champion cross-functional Machine Learning integration efforts across the data ecosystem.
• Work closely with stakeholders, software and data engineering teams, and analytics leadership to prioritize solutions and ensure incremental delivery.
• Lead the Machine Learning leadership team and manage direct reports.
• Engage in design, planning, architecture, and execution of systems being built across the organization.
• Collaborate with other technical leaders to foster visibility and alignment on technical approaches.
• Mentor and coach Data Scientists and engineers across the organization.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of senior-level Data Science and Machine Learning Engineering experience in a data-driven environment, ideally in AAA video gaming or streaming entertainment.
• Prior experience in a technical leadership role.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to work with open-ended requirements.
• Deep experience with cloud-based big data tools and services for real-time and batch ML applications, such as Kafka, Spark, and MLOps tools (MLFlow preferred).
• Strong experience building infrastructure for recommendation engines and hyper personalization.
• Experience in a cloud-based environment, ideally familiar with AWS and Databricks.
• Expertise in one or more programming languages (Python preferred, Scala and Java beneficial, GoLang is a plus).
• Passion for video games and/or video game technology.
