About the position

The Technical Editor and Writer at Northrop Grumman is responsible for creating, rewriting, and editing various technical documents to ensure clear communication for military customers. This role requires expertise in technical writing, particularly in the aviation or aerospace industry, and adherence to specific military standards. The position involves collaboration with product developers and requires on-site presence in Sierra Vista, AZ.

Responsibilities

• Writes, rewrites, and edits technical documents such as manuals and specifications using XML and adhering to S1000D and MIL-STD-40051 standards.
• Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers and referring to technical specifications and engineering illustrations.
• Oversees the preparation of illustrative materials, selecting appropriate drawings and diagrams.
• Conducts quality reviews of technical materials.

Requirements

• 3 years of experience in writing/editing technical documents with a Bachelor's Degree, or 7 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience in the Aviation or Aerospace industry.
• Knowledge of DoD industry practices (TO 00-5-1, Mil-STD-38784, MIL-STD-3048, Mil-STD-1808).
• Ability to independently perform complex professional tasks.
• Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
• Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience writing in XML/S1000D specifications.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with TeamCenter and Sharepoint web portals.
• Familiarity with the USAF Global Hawk Flight Manual change process.
• History of collaboration in small teams across different organizations.
• Experience with AGILE, SCRUM, DevOps methodologies.
