About The Position

The Technical Editor will support the New York State Department of Health Medicaid Management Information System by collaborating with technical teams to produce and edit complex technical documentation. This role is essential for ensuring clarity and accuracy in documentation, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the eMedNY Systems Development team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, English or a related discipline.
  • Two+ (2+) years of experience in technical writing.
  • Strong experience with MS Office Suite, Outlook, SharePoint, Web Conferencing tools like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Adobe Pro.
  • Experience working with industry writing style such as grammar, sentence format, and structure.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organization and time management skills while working in a rapid information technology environment.
  • Ability to integrate and become a collaborative team member.
  • Must be able to identify and learn new technologies quickly.

  • Experience with technical documentation in a healthcare or government setting.

Responsibilities

  • Researches, prepares, and edits technical documents.
  • Reviews and edits complex material for punctuation, grammar, and content.
  • Identifies and modifies complex contextual errors, reorganizes content, and edits graphics, tables, and illustrations.
  • Collaborates closely with technical teams to deliver appropriate and highly complex content.
  • Works with Adobe Pro to change word documents to PDFs and place signatures and check boxes where needed.
  • Recommends and provides MS Office Suite and Outlook templates which maximize consistency and team members' use of time.
  • Performs other tasks, as requested.
