The Technical Editor/Graphic Designer plays a vital role in supporting a federal agency's internal and external communication workflows. This position is responsible for the production and posting of federal reports, fact sheets, and various documents, ensuring that all materials are accurate, clear, and visually appealing. The Technical Editor/Graphic Designer is tasked with adhering to Section 508 accessibility standards, which is crucial for making content accessible to all users. This role involves providing design, layout, and branding for agency publications, which requires a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of graphic design principles. Key duties include reviewing and proofreading content for grammar, punctuation, and style, ensuring that all materials are accurate, consistent, and clear. The Technical Editor/Graphic Designer must ensure that terms and concepts are presented in a way that is easily understood by different target audiences. This requires maintaining a high level of attention to detail to produce error-free publications. The role also involves editing, formatting, and performing quality checks on agency reports and documents, ensuring compliance with agency branding and Section 508 accessibility guidelines. In addition to editing and proofreading, the Technical Editor/Graphic Designer is responsible for designing and producing high-quality graphics, illustrations, and layouts for interactive and multimedia content intended for the web and social media. This position also involves advising leadership on technical challenges, publication and accessibility issues, and best practices. Educating and training staff on design, layout, branding, and accessibility is another critical aspect of this role. The Technical Editor/Graphic Designer will utilize Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office to design and format various agency materials, including reports, newsletters, presentations, and flyers. The position requires developing infographics, banners, logos, and other custom graphics as needed, as well as researching images for use in publications and on the agency website. Finally, the Technical Editor/Graphic Designer will prepare and check files submitted by staff for web publishing and post cleared materials to the agency website using Drupal, providing technical support to the Web Content Manager as necessary. This position is fully remote and requires the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
