About the position

The Technical Editor/Writer position at Anistar Technologies is a critical role that involves creating and validating a wide range of technical documentation in accordance with Military Specifications. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), Depot Maintenance Work Requirements (DMWRs), Repair Parts and Special Tools Lists (RPSTLs), and procedural art and illustrated graphics. This role requires a strong understanding of military standards, specifically MIL-STD-40051-1 and MIL-STD-40051-2, as well as MIL-STD-2361C or later releases. The candidate will utilize tools such as Arbortext Editor (including Styler version 5.4 or higher), UltraEdit or similar text editors, and Adobe Acrobat Pro to produce high-quality documentation. In addition to technical writing, the role demands excellent communication skills, both written and oral, as the candidate will need to collaborate effectively with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to verify technical concepts and ensure that documentation meets project requirements. The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and software description documents is essential. The candidate must also be familiar with the layout, design, and structure of various levels of Technical Manuals (TMs), including Operation and Maintenance manuals, Theory of Operation documents, Fault Isolation Procedures, and Illustrated Parts Breakdowns (IPBs). Flexibility and a strong work ethic are crucial, as the candidate will need to respond quickly to company and client needs, and may be required to work overtime. Some travel may also be necessary, depending on project requirements. Responsibilities

  • Develop and validate Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) according to Military Specifications.
  • Create Depot Maintenance Work Requirements (DMWRs) and Repair Parts and Special Tools Lists (RPSTLs).
  • Produce procedural art and illustrated graphics that meet applicable Military Specifications.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to verify technical concepts and ensure project completion.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and software description documents.
  • Ensure documentation is completed on time and within budget.
  • Maintain excellent written and oral communication with team members and clients.

Requirements

  • Experience with Extensible Markup Language (XML).
  • Working knowledge of Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformation (XSLT).
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-40051-1 and MIL-STD-40051-2, preferably Revision B.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-2361C or later release.
  • Proficiency in Arbortext Editor including Styler (5.4 or higher).
  • Experience with UltraEdit or similar text editors.
  • Proficient in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Familiarity with Content Management Systems such as WindChill.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and respond quickly to client needs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with technical documentation for military applications.
  • Familiarity with layout and design of Organizational, Intermediate, and Depot level Technical Manuals (TMs).
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
