About the position

The Technical High Voltage Battery Component Sourcing Specialist at Navistar, Inc. is responsible for collaborating with procurement and engineering teams to source components for the RESS (Rechargeable Energy Storage System). This hybrid role involves working both in-office and remotely, focusing on supplier relationships, technical assessments, and supporting the localization of battery components in the U.S. The specialist will lead engineering activities, draft technical documentation, and ensure the delivery of high-quality components for vehicle validation testing.

Responsibilities

  • Leading engineering activities for localized part supplier sourcing and support
  • Work with procurement team to draft the technical portion of RFIs/RFQs
  • Provide technical input to the supplier decision matrix
  • Assist procurement team in understanding component function
  • Provide prioritized KPIs and work with program team to estimate production needs
  • Create and track sourcing time plan and sourcing strategy
  • Facilitate localization of Traton batteries in the US
  • Support global supplier relationships through plant visits and engineering meetings
  • Collaborate with SQE to resolve quality issues
  • Organize and coordinate engineering activities with localized component suppliers
  • Support prototype pack builds and validation testing
  • Work with internal customers to capture special prototype requirements
  • Develop, execute, and assess DVP&Rs for localized components/systems
  • Support prototype flow team regarding component availability

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • At least 5 years of experience in product design/development OR Master's degree with at least 3 years of experience OR PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Nice-to-haves

  • 4+ year Electrical/Mechanical or relevant Engineering degree
  • Proven record of successfully working with suppliers to deliver parts to an OEM
  • Hands-on experience working on HV lithium-ion batteries
  • Familiarity with the design of HV batteries
  • Hands-on experience with power-electronics and electrified propulsion systems
  • Experience with physical testing of electrical components
  • DFSS green or black-belt certification
  • Ability and flexibility to travel up to 2 weeks at a time, multiple times per year
