About the position

The Technical Illustrator/Writer at Urschel will collaborate with the Publications Manager and other professionals to develop and revise user manuals and related documents. This role is essential in preparing technical instructions, illustrations, and parts lists using engineering models and drawings, while also ensuring the accuracy and clarity of technical content. The position requires daily attendance at the Corporate Headquarters in Chesterton, Indiana, and involves working in a clean, climate-controlled environment that utilizes advanced manufacturing technologies.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical instructions and illustrations for user manuals.
• Develop parts lists utilizing engineering models and drawings.
• Study drawings, specifications, and manufactured parts to create accurate illustrations and text.
• Interview subject matter experts to gather information for manuals.
• Select and edit photographs to accompany text in the manuals.
• Assist with technical writing and illustration tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in technical illustration, graphic design, technical writing, English, or a technical field.
• Demonstrated illustration and/or writing ability.
• Experience in a mechanically based work environment is a plus.
• Proficiency in image editing software and web-based documents.
• Proficiency in Solidworks Composer, Arbortext IsoDraw, Adobe In-Design, Adobe Photoshop, and familiarity with CAD software.
