About the position

The Technical Inside Sales Engineer at Vertiv Corporation is a pivotal role that provides essential technical pre-sales support to targeted partners and national resellers. This position is designed to facilitate effective communication and collaboration between Vertiv and its national reseller technical teams, ensuring that customer application requirements are met with precision. The engineer will be responsible for configuration assistance, developing actual product configurations, and engaging in bid spec reviews and compliance documentation. Additionally, the role involves providing competitive cross-reference inputs to enhance the sales process. In this capacity, the Technical Inside Sales Engineer will primarily interface with national reseller technical teams, sales teams, and Vertiv's own sales teams. The engineer will play a crucial role in optimizing Vertiv solution configurations to address specific application requirements presented by national resellers. This includes assisting in technical sales positioning on proposals, taking into account various factors such as specifications, competition, and winning criteria like price, performance, efficiency, and footprint. Moreover, the engineer will provide technical sales support through training and presentations to targeted national resellers, serving as an escalation point for basic technical pre-sales inquiries. The role also encompasses providing pre-sale applications engineering support via phone, email, and web, as well as defining technical pre-sales elements that support marketing collateral for national resellers. Competitive evaluations will also be part of the responsibilities when appropriate, along with miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical pre-sales support between Vertiv and targeted resellers.
  • Collaborate and communicate closely with Vertiv field sales teams supporting the same opportunity.
  • Review or generate the optimized Vertiv solution configuration to solve a specific national reseller opportunity set of application requirements.
  • Assist in technical sales positioning on proposals considering specifications, competition, winning criteria (e.g. price or performance or efficiency or footprint).
  • Provide technical sales support to targeted national resellers via training and presentations.
  • Serve as escalation point for national resellers on basic technical pre-sales questions.
  • Provide pre-sale applications engineering support via phone, e-mail, and web to national resellers.
  • Assist in defining technical pre-sales elements supporting marketing collateral to national resellers.
  • Provide competitive evaluations to national resellers when appropriate.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or other technical degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a technical manufacturing support role; a technical support role (IT systems or power distribution focus), a custom design support role, or inside sales support role.
  • Working knowledge of electronic circuits and electrical distribution systems OR working knowledge of networking and IT infrastructure.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Highly detail-oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong presentation skills.
  • Capability of effectively interacting with global personnel.
  • Professional attitude towards customer relations.
