About the position

The Technical Pre-Sales Support position at Vertiv is designed to provide essential technical assistance to targeted partners and national resellers. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the technical needs of national resellers are met through effective communication and collaboration with both the reseller's technical teams and Vertiv's sales teams. The individual in this position will be responsible for configuring products to meet specific application requirements, reviewing bid specifications, and ensuring compliance with documentation standards. Additionally, the role involves providing competitive cross-reference inputs to enhance the sales process. In this capacity, the Technical Pre-Sales Support professional will engage directly with national reseller technical teams, offering guidance and clarification on how to effectively position Vertiv's solutions for optimal sales outcomes. This includes generating optimized solution configurations tailored to specific opportunities, assisting in technical sales positioning, and providing training and presentations to reseller teams. The role also serves as an escalation point for basic technical pre-sales inquiries, ensuring that national resellers receive timely and accurate support. The successful candidate will be expected to perform various miscellaneous duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the sales team and the satisfaction of national resellers. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining high standards of customer relations, aligning with Vertiv's core principles of safety, integrity, respect, teamwork, and diversity & inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical pre-sales support between Vertiv and targeted resellers.
  • Collaborate and communicate closely with Vertiv field sales teams supporting the same opportunity.
  • Review or generate the optimized Vertiv solution configuration to solve a specific national reseller opportunity set of application requirements.
  • Assist in technical sales positioning on proposals considering specifications, competition, winning criteria (e.g. price or performance or efficiency or footprint).
  • Provide technical sales support to targeted national resellers via training and presentations.
  • Serve as escalation point for national resellers on basic technical pre-sales questions.
  • Provide pre-sale applications engineering support via phone, e-mail, and web to national resellers.
  • Assist in defining technical pre-sales elements supporting marketing collateral to national resellers.
  • Provide competitive evaluations to national resellers when appropriate.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or other technical degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a technical manufacturing support role; a technical support role (IT systems or power distribution focus), a custom design support role, or inside sales support role.
  • Working knowledge of electronic circuits and electrical distribution systems OR working knowledge of networking and IT infrastructure.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Highly detail-oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Capability of effectively interacting with global personnel.
  • Professional attitude towards customer relations.
