About the position

The Technical Interior/Architectural Designer will assist in various tasks during the early phases of projects and act as the primary contact for all outside parties once the construction phase begins. This role involves coordinating with general contractors, architects, and consultants, reviewing design documentation, and ensuring alignment with design intent and construction standards. The designer will also conduct site visits, compile punch lists, and mentor technical team members, all while maintaining organized project data.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with General Contractor, Architect of Record, and/or Consultants.
  • Review design documentation during the construction/documentation process to ensure alignment with design intent and construction standards.
  • Defend design intent by familiarizing oneself with documented design drawings, design intent, 3D renderings, and physical finish samples.
  • Review and coordinate with outside consultants' drawings.
  • Be aware of contractual scope and clarify involvement level with the director at the start of the project.
  • Complete initial review of submittals and RFIs while referencing available project documents.
  • Issue ISKs, drawing issuances, and address coordination needs throughout the construction process.
  • Complete site visits throughout the construction phase, documenting with photos.
  • Compile interior project punch lists and coordinate with the architect and other trades in collaboration with the General Contractor.
  • Assist with the delegation of tasks and coordinate with the team to ensure project needs are met.
  • Mentor technical team members with occasional site visits and share in-field experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or Interior Design from an accredited institution in the United States.
  • 5-7 years of post-graduate experience within the US, excluding internship experience.
  • Technical documentation experience at an architecture or interior design firm.
  • Construction administration experience.
  • Experience as a client/stakeholder liaison with the ability to communicate with General Contractors and clients on updates.
  • Hospitality experience, specifically with amenity spaces and custom restaurants, not roll-out restaurant work.
  • High-end, custom hospitality experience, avoiding prototypical projects.
  • Fully proficient in AutoCAD and SketchUp; Bluebeam experience is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with high-end custom hospitality projects.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam.
