About the position

GovCIO is seeking a Lead ETL Engineer (or Data Scientist) to join our ETL Team, focusing on ingesting and visualizing data from various cloud sources and alerting on deviations from normalization. This fully remote position will involve extracting, transforming, and analyzing data to create models that enhance productivity and decision-making, ultimately impacting strategic missions.

Responsibilities

  • Extract, transform, load, and analyze data to create descriptive and predictive models.
  • Employ ETL tools and programming languages to collect and blend data from operational and external systems.
  • Conduct data mining, machine learning, and statistical analyses to develop predictive and descriptive models.
  • Perform data discovery and create visualizations to interpret and present findings.
  • Maintain and integrate analytical systems with operational systems, ensuring data accuracy.
  • Collaborate with business and data subject matter experts (SMEs) to generate new business insights.
  • Parse and transform structured, unstructured, relational, and NoSQL data using custom code.
  • Design and implement ETL solutions within an AWS environment using tools like AWS Glue and Data Pipeline.
  • Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate cloud ETL resource management.
  • Analyze data using data mining and statistical algorithms available in COTS tools and programming languages.
  • Interpret and evaluate the accuracy of results using iterative methodologies.
  • Apply data discovery and visualization tools to develop actionable data stories.
  • Work closely with data SMEs and management to prioritize business and information needs.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma with 9+ years of experience/professional.
  • Must have or obtain IAT level II/III certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+(CE)).
  • Demonstrated experience or certifications in Linux and/or AWS GovCloud technologies.
  • 2+ years of experience managing small teams and interfacing with leadership.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with customers and internal teams.
  • Experience with virtual and/or cloud-based servers and applications (AWS GovCloud specific).
  • Comfortable speaking in front of large audiences and performing demos.
  • Excellent technical documentation and reporting skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Certification(s) in relevant technologies.
  • Active Top Secret clearance.
