About the position

The Technical Lead Design Engineer at Stanadyne is responsible for engineering design and detail from concept to production across a wide range of products. This role involves overseeing the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems, managing the entire product life cycle of fuel systems from concept development to manufacturing. The engineer will establish and coordinate activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and product specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems.
  • Manage product conformance through the creation of standard work and implementation of verification and validation processes.
  • Oversee production of models and drawings consistent with product requirements, guidelines, and standards.
  • Lead groups of designers, engineers, and technicians to adhere to project requirements and produce required deliverables.
  • Direct team and work collaboratively with Manufacturing and Quality Engineers to identify improvements to designs.
  • Oversee individuals performing required calculations and analysis including stress analysis (FEA) and design failure effect analysis (DFMEA).
  • Maintain project files and resource materials such as drawings, instruction manuals, and specifications.
  • Review engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications.
  • Recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the design and use of fuel injectors and pumps.
  • Ability to work with customers to define and document requirements and address technical concerns.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate with various customers within all levels of the organization.
  • Fluent in solid modeling and related analysis software, specifically ProEngineer 3D Modeling (Creo).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project, Publisher, & Power Point).
  • 10+ years Tool Design experience if applying for tool design.
  • Good physics knowledge and Mechanical Engineering education and experience.
  • Experience specializing in design and/or engineering technology.
  • Expert in drafting room practice and knowledge of manufacturing processes and capabilities.
  • Automotive product knowledge is a must.
  • 10+ years experience with Pro-E/Creo CAD software.
  • 10+ years of PDM (Product Data Management) workflow process with Windchill or other.
  • 8+ years' experience applying GD&T and performing tolerance & stack-up studies.
  • Understanding of CFD analysis is a plus.
  • MasterCam experience is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding and experience in Principles of Lean and Mistake Proofing.
  • Exposure to electromagnetic/magnetic circuits.
