About the position

Zillow is seeking a Senior Android Engineer to lead technology initiatives and drive the development of robust, scalable mobile applications. This role emphasizes high coding standards, mentorship, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance the user experience in real estate transactions. The ideal candidate will work remotely from Mexico, contributing to a diverse and inclusive workplace while embracing agile development practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technology stack for mobile application development.
• Develop world-class mobile applications using the latest Android technologies and architectural patterns.
• Implement client-side features and server APIs to support mobile functionality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, testers, designers, and program managers.
• Deliver performant, testable, scalable, and highly-readable code using object-oriented best practices.
• Mentor and coach junior and senior developers.
• Drive cross-team design and framework decisions.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of experience in software development.
• 4+ years of Android development experience with strong knowledge of Java and Kotlin.
• Ability to mentor and coach developers.
• Strong architectural knowledge of MVVM or similar patterns.
• Familiarity with Compose for UI development.
• Experience with modular Android architecture.
• Strong experience in profiling for optimizing performance and resource utilization.
• Fluent in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
• Must be authorized to work in Mexico.
