About the position

The Technical Lead Software Engineer for Cloud Interconnect Networking at Google is responsible for leading a team of software engineers to design, develop, and enhance systems that connect customer networks to Google Cloud. This role involves guiding technical direction, collaborating with various teams, and ensuring the quality of code and designs. The position requires a strong background in software development, network design, and architecture, as well as the ability to innovate and address customer needs effectively.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Software Engineers, guide technical direction, and support collaboration.
• Design, develop, and improve systems that connect customer networks to Google Cloud.
• Work with different teams across Google to create and launch new products and features.
• Review code and designs from other engineers to ensure quality and consistency.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest networking technologies and trends.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
• 5 years of experience with network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
• 5 years of experience with network architectures, protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, etc.), and technologies, as well as concepts like scalability, fault tolerance, and consistency.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
• Experience with Java or Go, with the ability to resolve customer-related issues.
• Experienced in developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
