About the position

The Technical Librarian at Zimmerman Associates, Inc. (ZAI) is a hybrid role focused on supporting a federal library in Washington, D.C. This position involves managing both print and electronic collections, including cataloging, e-resource management, and maintaining the Integrated Library System (ILS). The librarian will work collaboratively with a small team to ensure the library's operations run smoothly and meet project obligations within deadlines. The role requires a combination of onsite and telework, with three days onsite and two days remote work each week.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the print and electronic collection of the library.
  • Perform original and copy cataloging and apply metadata standards.
  • Maintain the Integrated Library System (ILS) and manage links and content on a Drupal-based Intranet.
  • Support LibGuides and respond to general reference requests.
  • Ensure all project obligations are met within established deadlines.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in library/information science from an ALA-accredited institution.
  • Minimum two years of work experience in library technical services operations.
  • Hands-on experience with MARC 21 and RDA standards.
  • Strong knowledge of Library of Congress classification schema.
  • Experience with authority control and controlled vocabularies.
  • Experience in administration and daily operations of an Integrated Library System (ILS).
  • Website experience in designing, editing, and maintaining intranet webpages.
  • Proficiency in HTML and CSS; Drupal experience preferred.
  • Exposure to IP management and EZProxy experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of library automation and basic PC troubleshooting techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with law and/or business collections.
  • OCLC WorldShare Management Services experience preferred.
