About the position

Purpose Financial is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Manager, Data Governance to lead our data governance initiatives. The technical manager will lead and oversee data governance initiatives to ensure data quality and accuracy across enterprise cloud platforms. This role involves coordinating data governance policies, managing core data assets, and supporting data lifecycle management. The Technical manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineering, legal, finance, technology, and business domains to drive value with data governance frameworks and standards. In this position, you will be responsible for leading the implementation of data governance strategies, policies, and procedures. You will manage a team of data analysts and oversee data management projects. Collaboration with senior managers is essential to align data governance initiatives with the company's strategic goals. You will define and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data across all systems and processes. Establishing data ownership, stewardship, and accountability frameworks will be crucial to govern the lifecycle of data from acquisition to disposal. Additionally, you will manage and enforce data classification, data access, data sharing, and reference data. Implementing data classification, tagging, and access control mechanisms to protect sensitive and confidential information while ensuring compliance with relevant data privacy regulations is a key responsibility. You will also ensure proper documentation of data assets, metadata, and data lineage with Atlan, and design and implement data quality management processes, data profiling, and data cleansing strategies to improve data accuracy and reliability. Hands-on proficiency in SQL and Python is required, as well as the ability to communicate the value of data governance across the organization and advocate for a data-driven culture. You will develop and deliver training programs to raise awareness and build data governance capabilities within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Data Management, or related disciplines; Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of at least 5 years of experience in data governance, data management, or data engineering roles.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership or management position.
  • Hands-on expertise in data governance tools, frameworks, metadata management, and data lineage.
  • Strong understanding of data privacy regulations, compliance requirements, and industry standards.
  • Proficient in SQL, Python, data modeling, and metadata management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong understanding of data quality, privacy, and compliance principles.
