About the position

The Technical Onboarding Asset Manager oversees the technical onboarding and integration of new energy projects, primarily distributed solar and storage. This role ensures assets are optimized for peak performance before transitioning from construction to asset management, focusing on minimizing the time from PTO (Permission to Operate) to stabilization. Key responsibilities include addressing performance and warranty issues during early operations to ensure long-term reliability and efficiency. Success in this role depends on effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, a systematic approach, and strong project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review closeout packages (documentation, tests, punch lists, monitoring system setup, etc) to confirm site readiness for handoff to Asset Management.
  • Conduct periodic site visits to observe commissioning, performance testing, and punch list completion, ensuring a seamless transition to O&M providers.
  • Ensure pre-COD obligations related to PPAs, IAs, and regulatory compliance are met in alignment with project schedules and provide a detailed summary of long-term operational obligations for the Asset Management team.
  • Align operational contracts with project timelines in collaboration with commercial asset managers.
  • Coordinate inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs to maximize energy production while maintaining positive relationships with customers and property management teams.
  • Address performance issues by monitoring early operational performance, identifying deviations, and implementing corrective actions to maximize energy production and minimize downtime.
  • Manage and refine the technical handover process by recommending improvements to EPC and O&M specifications, ensuring adherence to Prologis design standards, and supporting the rollout of global best practices.
  • Provide analytical support for reviewing EPC documentation, including validating commissioning, performance testing, and other critical project milestones to ensure successful plant operations.
  • Assist with asset onboarding activities, including maintaining and updating the tracking checklist and related documentation as required.
  • Establish and manage spare parts strategies and oversee warranty processes, including tracking claims and improving warranty systems.
  • Support performance analytics by tracking and managing faults or outages, explaining project shortfalls, and driving remediation efforts to restore full operational capacity.

Requirements

  • Availability to travel up to 40% of the time.
  • 5+ years of direct experience in PV plant monitoring, operations, construction, commissioning or maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of the technical operations of solar and battery energy storage projects, particularly asset onboarding or commissioning.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and manage complex schematics, corrective maintenance reports, and preventive maintenance inspections related to PV and BESS systems.
  • Experience with asset monitoring, warranty management, RMA processes, and implementing corrective actions, including familiarity with common failures during the initial operations phase and their solutions.
  • Proficiency with industry monitoring platforms, especially in setup and configuration (e.g., PowerTrack by AlsoEnergy).
  • Knowledgeable in consumption meter setup and issue resolution.
  • Experience in vendor and contract management.
  • Skilled in project management and leading without direct-line authority, with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of common business systems such as Excel, Outlook, Word, and SharePoint, with an ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • Understanding of health and safety management systems in the context of operational renewable energy assets.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable Science/Engineering field, Business/Financial management, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Field experience is highly valued, but not required.
  • Previous experience in asset management or project management involving multiple PV portfolios or customers.
  • Experience working directly with large multinational customers.

Benefits

  • Healthcare, dental, and vision insurance for employees and eligible dependents.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with a company match of 50% up to 12% of eligible compensation.
  • Generous PTO with a starting accrual of 22 days a year in addition to paid holidays and volunteer time.
