About the position

The Technical Operations Specialist II serves as the primary point of contact for both internal and external customers, representing Gulfstream's Product Support network in various technical and non-technical situations. This role operates under minimal supervision, providing expert advice and guidance on the installation, service, repair, replacement, modification, and maintenance of Gulfstream aircraft systems and support equipment. The Specialist is responsible for building strong customer relationships, particularly in troubleshooting and resolving a wide range of aircraft systems and operational issues related to in-service products. This position also involves the conception, development, testing, and evaluation of innovative methods to enhance the technical support efforts for Gulfstream aircraft. In this role, the Specialist responds to in-flight emergency calls from operators, coordinating resources such as Flight Operations and Engineering while providing critical technical data and guidance during emergencies. They interpret operational and maintenance requirements, offering independent technical consultation to customers, Service Centers, Field Service Representatives (FSR), and other internal departments to ensure effective resolutions to various operational conditions. The Specialist conducts thorough system reviews to create tailored troubleshooting plans, guiding customers and teams through the implementation of these plans until the aircraft is returned to service. Additionally, the Specialist directs the exchange of technical data necessary for creating repair drawings for damaged aircraft in the field. They are responsible for reviewing and responding to correspondence from Gulfstream operators and other agencies, coordinating the transfer of aircraft components for analysis, and providing technical support based on the analysis results to improve the Gulfstream fleet. The role also includes developing and updating troubleshooting procedures and processes, determining priorities for handling technical operations, and preparing formal documentation such as customer bulletins and service news items. Utilizing Lean methodology, the Specialist identifies and implements process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the team, while also advocating for customer satisfaction and resolving any areas of frustration.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to in-flight emergency calls from operators by coordinating resources and providing technical data and guidance.
  • Interprets operational and maintenance requirements, providing technical consultation to various stakeholders.
  • Conducts in-depth system reviews to develop troubleshooting plans specific to operator and aircraft needs.
  • Directs the implementation of troubleshooting plans and guides customers and teams until Return To Service (RTS).
  • Manages the exchange of technical data necessary for repair drawings for damaged aircraft.
  • Reviews and responds to correspondence from Gulfstream operators and coordinates component transfers for analysis.
  • Develops and updates troubleshooting procedures and processes for Gulfstream aircraft.
  • Determines priorities for handling technical operations based on safety, urgency, and company policy.
  • Initiates and prepares customer bulletins, service news items, and other formal communications.
  • Uses Lean methodology to identify and implement improvements to internal processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in aviation maintenance, engineering technology, or related curriculum required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years of aircraft-related maintenance and operations experience is required.
  • An A&P license, EASA B1/B2 FlightSafety Master Technician, and four additional years of related aircraft experience may offset the degree.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, troubleshooting, technical manuals, and maintenance records systems is essential.
  • A good understanding of PC and mainframe computer applications, including standard word processing programs, is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Airframe and Powerplant license is preferred.
