About the position

The Technical Product Development Manager at Alpla Inc. is responsible for managing product development projects with minimal supervision. This role involves coordinating activities from design to production, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality requirements. The manager will demonstrate leadership and decision-making skills while overseeing project planning, timelines, and stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities

  • Manage product development projects with minor supervision and mentoring from senior management.
  • Coordinate activities during the development phase through customer approval.
  • Deliver projects to production on time, within budget, and to quality requirements.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines and track budgets.
  • Communicate effectively among project resources and stakeholders, aligning with corporate metrics.
  • Translate customer requirements into actionable plans.
  • Manage project planning, including Gantt charts and scheduling constraints.
  • Address customer complaints and concerns throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Hold regular meetings to ensure projects remain on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate design activities between customers and internal design teams.
  • Document key project information and follow established procedures for project execution.
  • Maintain project costs and manage health, safety, and legal requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably in Packaging, Mechanical, or Plastics Engineering.
  • Three years of project management experience, preferably in the plastics industry.
  • Technical knowledge of HDPE, PP, and PET resins.
  • Understanding of mold and design construction.
  • Knowledge of blow molding principles and related machines.
  • Ability to apply and assess SPC/statistics/Quality charts/Six Sigma principles.
  • Understanding of customer filling lines and packaging systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with dimensional and functional evaluations of bottles.
  • Knowledge of packaging system types, costs, and ordering procedures.
