About the position

The Technical Product Manager of Data Science Products at Stanford Health Care will lead the development and implementation of innovative data and AI products aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, product vision, and a commitment to improving patient care through data-driven solutions. The manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver products that meet critical needs within the healthcare system, particularly in collaboration with the Chief Data Scientist.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the product vision and roadmap for data and AI products.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure technical feasibility and scalability of products.
  • Prioritize user needs based on research, market trends, and business objectives.
  • Define product requirements, user flows, and success metrics.
  • Lead the product development lifecycle, including planning, execution, and delivery of new features and products.
  • Develop and maintain a product roadmap and manage the product backlog.
  • Facilitate sprint planning and manage product releases while collecting user feedback.
  • Generate detailed product requirement documents throughout the data lifecycle.
  • Effectively communicate project status, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Drive product adoption and iteration, monitoring performance and identifying improvement opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience as a technical product or program manager, product owner, or similar role in a data science or analytics environment.
  • Strong technical background in data science methodologies, tools, and technologies (e.g., Python, R, SQL, Machine Learning frameworks).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, GCP, AWS).
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to guide a team of engineers.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of healthcare informatics technologies and standards.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field such as data science, computer science, or healthcare management.
  • Experience with scientific research and analysis tools like Jupyter, RStudio, VSCode.
  • Experience delivering products and machine learning models using cloud-native services like BigQuery, Dataproc, Redshift, Sagemaker, and Synapse.
  • Experience developing products in regulated environments, particularly healthcare.
  • Familiarity with machine learning, model development, MLOps, and deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow or PyTorch).
  • Experience working with electronic health record data.
  • Familiarity with Data Visualization tools and techniques.
  • Experience in Healthcare, health research, life sciences, or similar industries.
